v0.3.0 · universal DMG · free under GPL-3.0

Burlwood's commit graph: branch lanes beside a list of commits with branch and tag labels, and the selected commit's changed files grouped by folder.

Read the history.

Every branch, tag and stash gets its own lane, and the graph scrolls smoothly through thousands of commits.⌘F finds a commit, and its changed files sit grouped by folder.

Checkout, create a branch or tag at any commit, revert, or reset soft, mixed or hard. A hard reset can be undone.

Close-up of the commit graph: coloured lanes fork and merge beside commits labelled with branches, their remotes and a v0.2.0 tag.

Shape the commit.

Stage and unstage whole files or single hunks. Burlwood builds the patch from exactly the lines on screen and hands it to git.

Diffs are syntax-highlighted, unified or side by side, with the changed words marked. Discard has Undo, and images preview in place.

Close-up of a diff: three removed lines in red and their replacements in green, with only the changed words marked more strongly.

The cutting list.

Everything else in the box, as plain as git itself.

PartWhat it does
CommittingCommit or amend, with a warning before you rewrite commits that are already pushed
BranchesSwitch, rename, delete, push and rebase from the sidebar. Switching carries your changes along and stashes them only when git refuses
StashesCreate, apply, pop, rename and drop
ConflictsPick ours or theirs per conflict, diff3 and zdiff3 aware, with a banner that shows rebase progress
RemotesBackground fetch, pull in your preferred mode with automatic stashing, push with automatic upstream, force push with lease when a push is rejected
Errorsgit’s error output becomes a plain sentence with a next step. The full output stays one click away
TabsSeveral repositories open at once, restored on the next launch
EngineYour system git, so your own config, hooks and SSH agent apply
BuildOne native binary: Go and Vue 3 in the system webview. No Electron, no local web server
Not yetHTTPS sign-in for private repositories. SSH remotes work through your SSH agent

Take a leaf.

Free to download, free to change. Burlwood runs your system git, so git must be installed and on yourPATH.

macOS

A universal DMG. Open it and drag Burlwood to Applications.

The app isn’t signed with an Apple Developer ID, so macOS blocks the first launch. Clear the quarantine flag once:

Linux

An AppImage. It needs WebKit2GTK 4.1:

# Fedora / RHEL
sudo dnf install webkit2gtk4.1
# Ubuntu / Debian
sudo apt install libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0
# Arch Linux
sudo pacman -S webkit2gtk-4.1

Then make it executable and run it.
